The name Caposaldo means “benchmark” in Italian. Caposaldo wines are the benchmark for quality in Italian winemaking. The fruit for each Caposaldo wine is hand harvested from low-yielding vineyards in prime growing areas in the classic wine regions of Tuscany, the Veneto and Lombardy. Caposaldo
offers iconic Italian wines—Prosecco, Chianti, Pinot Grigio and Moscato—at friendly prices
The fruit comes from the hilly provinces of Arezzo and Siena in the Chianti region of Tuscany, grown in layers of clay, lime and schist. After handpicking, grapes are brought to the winery for a traditional vinification that includes pumping over at least four times a day. GRAPES: 75% Sangiovese, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 5% Malvasia. Bright, ruby red. Fruity aroma with hints of violet. Cherry flavors, a dry, flavorful palate, good body, light tannins an excellent structure and a long, elegant finish bring harmony to this wine whose finesse increases with age. Best with pizza, pasta with tomato- or meat-based sauces, meaty mushrooms, roasted chicken or grilled meats.
It, Now! |
Chianti is a very dry red wine that, like most Italian wines, tastes best with food. It ranges from light-bodied to almost full-bodied, according to the district, producer, vintage, and aging regime. It often has an aroma of cherries and sometimes violets, and has a flavor reminiscent of tart cherries.
