Château Pichon-Lalande
In the 18th century, Pichon Lalande and Pichon Baron were one estate - among the finest in the Médoc. In the early 19th century, the vineyard was divided among the heirs of Baron Joseph de Pichon Longueville, creating Pichon Comtesse de Lalande and Pichon Baron. In the 1920's Pichon Lalande was purchased by a company run by Edward Miailhe. His daughter, May de Lencquesaing, has owned and managed the estate since 1978. She is widely credited with having raised Pichon Lalande's quality to one of the highest levels in the Médoc. Pichon-Lalande is often quoted as being the favourite wine of French wine lovers. The Château and chai are now a showplace.
Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande
The Chateau Lalande remains faithful to the tradition of hand picking during the harvests. The unique encepagement and the twelve hectares of vines situated on the soils of St Julien endow the wines of Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande with an exceptional personality compared with the other crus of the Pauillac appellation. Every year more than one hundred people pick the grapes in accordance with their maturity and the age of the parcel of land: The Merlot, an early grape, begins the harvests, the Cabernet and the Petit Verdot, late varieties, close the harvests. A very rigorous selection is carried out among the vines and later in the receiving bin.

Chateau Pichon Lalande 2003 Bordeaux
The brilliant, opulent, fleshy 2003 Pichon Lalande (65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot, and 4% Petit Verdot) possesses a high pH of 3.8 as well as 13% alcohol. Reminiscent of the 1982 Pichon Lalande, the dense plum/purple-colored 2003 offers gorgeous aromas of blackberries, plum liqueur, sweet cherries, smoke, and melted licorice.
