Château Vrai Canon Bouché
It became a dukedom under
Henry the 4th, and the Duke of Richelieu,
who was also the Duke of Fronsac, constructed an Italian-style mansion in the area, which became the scene of many local parties. More recently,
LFP Grands Vignobles de France purchased Château Vrai Canon Bouché
in March 2014. This 30-acre vineyard has been doing some marvelous work over the last decade, and the Dutch owners had the foresight to bring in the most fashionable winemaking consultant of the moment, Stephane Derenoncourt.
Chateau Vrai Canon Bouche 2003
98% Merlot, 2% Malbec. From a blend 98% Merlot and the remainder made from Malbec, this licorice, truffle, blackberry jam filled wine offers supple textures and an appealing black and red fruit finish. This is another outstanding value Bordeaux wine from 2009 made with the help of Stephane Derenoncourt and his able team.
The ageing potential Fronsac wines is quite significant and the best wines can easily wait 10-15 years to be tasted at their optimum.
"His noble effort, displaying terrific purity, power, and richness, provides further evidence that Canon-Fronsac’s cool terroirs were beneficial in the torridly hot, dry summer of 2003. An inky/ruby/purple color accompanies aromas of violets, blueberries, and crushed stones. Powerful, rich, and generous, this sleeper of the vintage should be at its finest between 2006-2014." - Rated 88-90, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate.
