The name Destieux comes from an old translation of "des yeux" or "eyes" suggesting the ability to see over the region. The Château Destieux was bought by Mrs Dauriac, Christian Dauriac’s mother, the current vineyards owner. Along with Michel Rolland , a well-known oenologist and Christian Dauriac's long-standing friend, the Château Destieux employs a team that cares passionately about their work in Saint Emilion, raising the standard within the wine market.
Chateau Destieux 2000
Saint Emilion Grand Cru Classé. 66 % Merlot, 17 % Cabernet franc,
17 % Cabernet Savignon. Wine with a deep dark colour with purple lights, intense nose with roasted and black fruits, frank and well-rounded in the mouth, deep in structure and sophisticated tannins. A very good and unctuous lenght in the end. "This beautiful wine, which is just hitting full maturity, reveals plenty of truffle, forest floor, black cherry, black currant, plum, and soy aromas with hints of espresso and white chocolate in the background. The tannins have fallen away in this medium to full-bodied St.-Emilion which offers a fleshy mid-palate in addition to lots of succulence. Enjoy it over the next decade. (Reviewed June 2010)"-Rated 90, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
