The Vineyard is located on Howell Mountain at the 1200 ft. elevation, approximately 2.5 miles northeast of St. Helena in the Napa Valley. Viader has chosen a unique planting design. Rather than running the vine rows contoured in terraces, the vineyard rows run up and down the hillside with a slope of 32%.
The result of such care and attention to detail is a very distinctive flavor profile.
VIADER 97
Viader is a blend of two varietals, 60% Cabernet Sauvignon 60% and 40%
Cabernet Franc 40%. The style is reminiscent of the best of St. Emilion,
Bordeaux, particularly Chateau Cheval Blanc, a high proportion of Cabernet Franc
is used in the proprietary blend. The 1997 is a ripe and rich example of what
Viader is capable of producing. The round nose is full of plums, herbs, spice,
and currants.
