Wines bearing the Trinchero Napa Valley label are luxury-class, predominantly single-vineyard wines from the family's Napa Valley estates. Grapes are sourced from 200+ acres of estate vineyards in prime Napa Valley appellations, including St. Helena, Mt. Veeder, Rutherford and Atlas Peak.
Nestled north of the town of St. Helena, the winery is a work of art unto itself. Every detail of its design was conceived to create wines of exceptional caliber. Renowned winemaker Mario Monticelli handcrafts more than 12 different wines, with total production at merely 12,000 cases.
Trinchero Napa Valley welcomes the discerning guest to experience its unwavering commitment to excellence.
Trinchero Family Vineyards Merlot Chicken Ranch 2010
The 28-acre Chicken Ranch Vineyard is located on the northern border of the Rutherford appellation. Sustainable farming methods (including Biodynamic techniques on some blocks) accompanied by low yields and aggressive canopy management produce wines that are dark, dense and packed with “Rutherford Dust.” This vintage was a roller coaster. The season began with heat spikes in March followed by one of the wettest Aprils on record. A warm summer and more heat in September raised sugars quickly, creating a frenetic harvest. Overall, the quality for both reds and whites in Napa Valley was quite high.

Trinchero Family Vineyards Petit Verdot 2009
While usually used as a component, in a starring role this varietal clearly shows its characteristics; inky color, floral aromas and flavors with a mouthfeel like velvet.
It’s a powerful wine, but the tannins are in check. Inky purple with a nose of rose petals and black cherries, this is an incredible wine. The rich elegant texture of Trinchero Family Petit Verdot is complemented when paired with dishes of equal sophistication. Their chefs favorite pairing for this special wine is apple wood bacon wrapped pan-seared filet mignon topped with a stilton cheese crust accompanied by roasted fingerling potatoes and lightly sautéed morel mushrooms.

Trinchero Family Vineyards Mario's Reserve Meritage
Some winemakers are made, others are born. Mario Monticelli, Winemaker since 2007 for Trinchero Napa Valley, is a born winemaker. This is hardly surprising, since his father, Marcello Monticelli, born in Tuscany, Italy and raised in the San Joaquin Valley of California, has been a respected winemaker himself for more than 35 years for the famous Gallo family. Winemaking runs in the blood and the heritage of the Monticelli family. It's a smooth powerhouse. Mario's Reserve Meritage is a smooth, fruit-packed blend of three grape varieties, Cabernet, Petit Verdot and Merlot, from different Napa Valley vineyards. It’s a lovely wine, with rich cassis, pencil lead and cedar flavors that finish with complexity and elegance.
