Rodney Strong Cabernet Sauvignon Sonoma Valley 2012
This vintage started off warm and dry, with little to no frost. By mid-summer people were beginning to whisper about how perfect the growing season was going. Rain-free warm days and cool nights were the rule, with no storms or heat spikes. The real cheering began when we finally started picking the fruit a full sixteen days earlier than the year before, which feels like eons at harvest time. We harvested this Cabernet in September and October. Aromas of blackberry, cocoa, and cedar lead to a rich, layered mouthfeel, replete with black cherry, vanilla, and cassis, and structured with lush, mature tannins. Enjoy this seductive cabernet sauvignon now and over the next several years.

Rodney Strong Chardonnay 2010
Rodney Strong barrel fermented a bit less than half of this wine, and aged that portion in barrel for 9 months, offering the wine a touch of brown spice and vanilla, while cold fermenting the other half to maximize a fresh fruit-forward character. Bright lemon and apple aromas mingle with hints of toasty barrel complexity, and on the palate, pear and pineapple with spice and refreshing acidity will have you coming back for another glass. Enjoy this lively chardonnay now and over the next couple of years.

Rodney Strong Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve 2012
Full bodied and richly textured, this cabernet displays intense aromas and flavors of blackberry, cassis, earth, and black olive, with a smooth, lingering finish. Structured to be age-worthy, it is layered with the addition of merlot, which not only adds complexity, it also serves to round out the mid-palate and soften the abundant ripe tannins just enough to make this a big wine that you can enjoy now. However, if you have access to a cool dark place, lay some bottles of this Reserve down for up to ten years, and patience will reward you as well!
This vintage was a warm one, especially in the Alexander Valley where picking got started on September 4th. A subsequent cooling off period which began in late September extended the cabernet harvest until the third week of October, allowing for complete flavor development which resulted in rich, truly ripe cabernet flavors.

Rodney Strong Chardonnay Chalk Hill 2013
Founder, Rod Strong, planted chardonnay in their original Chalk Hill Vineyard in 1965, and later spearheaded the establishment of the Chalk Hill Viticultural Area in 1983. He recognized the region as distinct from the rest of Russian River Valley for its unique chalky white soils, which impart a subtle mineral character to wines grown there. Barrel fermentation in new and seasoned French oak added toasty vanilla and spice complexities, and during 10 months of barrel ageing, we regularly stirred the “lees” in barrel, which gives a certain fullness and creamy texture on the palate. Encouraging malolactic fermentation added additional character, and in the glass the wine is both creamy and crisp, with abundant fruit character, mineral, and toasty oak flavors. Enjoy over the next 1-3 years.
