Matanzas Creek Winery
Founded by Bill and Sandra McIver in 1977 and acquired by Jess Jackson and Barbara Banke in 2000, Matanzas Creek Winery is one of only three bonded wineries in this small but important cool climate Sonoma County region.
The winery makes Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot, and Pinot Noir wines under the Matanzas Creek name. Matanzas Creek Winery is recognized as one of the country's top wineries, consistently producing wines which are among the best in the country.
Matanzas Creek Chardonnay 2012
On appearance, this Chardonnay is the color of golden straw. The first nose delivers notes of vanilla and lemon zest. After a swirl, the deeper notes of honey, pear and quince become evident. On the palate, delicate flavors of lemon crème, white peach and pear progress into honeysuckle and butterscotch.
"Ripe, soft and creamy smooth, this Chard has polished flavors of pineapple jam, vanilla, pears, apple butter, honey and cinnamon. — S.H. (8/1/2008)" - Rated 86, Wine Enthusiast.

Matanzas Creek Sauvignon Blanc 2013
Matanzas Creek's signature style of 'non grassy' Sauvignon Blanc is achieved by blending Sauvignon Musque (a clonal cousin of Sauvignon Blanc) which balances the wine's natural acidity, strengthens the mid-palate and provides a longer finish. They also ferment and age 21% of the wine in very fine grain French Oak barrels to preserve the fresh aromatic qualities of these varietals.
Preserving the aromatics of this grape throughout the winemaking process is challenging, but they are able to continue to craft a truly refined Sauvignon Blanc rich with character.
