MacMurray and his wife, actress June Haver, bought the ranch in 1941 from the Porter family, pioneers who established the farmstead in the 1850s – their old wagon still stands in front of the house.
The MacMurray family sold the ranch to the Gallos in 1996, a few years after Fred MacMurray's death, and the land – in a prime area of Sonoma County's renowned Russian River Valley appellation – today has 425 acres of vines. The wines of MacMurray Ranch are crafted with care by winemaker Susan Doyle.
MacMurray Ranch Chardonnay 2008
MacMurray Ranch Russian River Valley Chardonnay is a rich expression of this celebrated appellation, with its elegant palate of ripe tropical fruit.
Fred MacMurray's daughter Kate has been a part of this fantastic property since she was a baby and is still intimately involved in the ranch. Subtle notes of sweet caramel and vanilla are framed by a luxurious mouthfeel. Layers of mouth-filling richness, yet the cool climate of Sonoma's Russian River provides superb balance and structure. A Chardonnay lover's Chardonnay. Try it with roast chicken or turkey.
