Known for its over-the-top Italian villa and manicured gardens—not a stray blade of grass anywhere here—this winery produces mostly Chardonnays, Fumé Blancs, Zinfandels, and Cabernet Sauvignons. Though whites have traditionally been the specialty here, the reds garner attention too.
Ferrari Carano Cabernet Sauvignon 2012
This wine is composed primarily of Cabernet Sauvignon blended with Syrah. The hand-harvested grapes enter the gravity-flow winery and whole berries are gravity fed into tanks for fermenting before pressing. Individual lots are moved to barrels for malolactic fermentation, then blended and cave aged for 16 months prior to bottling, allowing for the perfect balance of fruit, tannin and oak. This Cabernet Sauvignon pairs well with roasted, broiled or barbecued game and red meats such as lamb, beef, pork and veal. Medium and strong-flavored cheeses, such as blue cheese or sharp Cheddar, also pair nicely with Cabernet Sauvignon.

Ferrari Carano Chardonnay 2009
Grapes came from their estate vineyards in two distinctly different growing regions in Sonoma County: Alexander Valley and Russian River Valley. A mild late spring and summer ensured a healthy canopy, which provided the perfect combination of sunlight and heat penetrating the grape clusters. These conditions allowed the grapes to reach full maturity in both flavor and structure. Harvest was completed early-October.

Ferrari Carano Pinot Grigio 2013
Pinot Gris grapes from vineyards in Russian River and Alexander Valleys combine to create a wine with incredible concentration and intensity of flavors. A cool, dry year from January to August ensured the vines set a light, small-berried, intense crop. September and October were mild, with hot weather towards the end of October that ripened fruit quickly. Overall, this had to be one of the fastest harvests remembered, with yields slightly lower than average.
With its delicate aromas and delicious flavors, Ferrari-Carano’s third vintage of Pinot Grigio is a perfect white wine for sipping. Sister wine to the popular Ferrari-Carano Sangiovese-blend red wine SIENA, their 2007 Pinot Grigio offers green apple, citrus and white peach on the nose, complemented by clean, crisp honeydew melon and lime flavors. The pleasant mouthfeel is balanced by a light citrus finish that is delicate yet vibrant.

Ferrari Carano Chardonnay Tre Terre 2011
Ferrari-Carano Tré Terre Chardonnay from Russian River Valley is a delicious, full-bodied wine with aromas and flavors of Meyer lemon, pear, green apple, lime, cream, melon, fig, citrus and vanilla. A wine with bright fruit and nice acidity, the Tré Terre Chardonnay has marshmallow, nutmeg and creamy butter nuances that linger on the finish. This yellow colored Chardonnay opens with a light lemon and oak bouquet. On the palate, this wine is full bodied, slightly acidic, yet savory and smooth. The flavor profile is a tasty tart green apple with hints of cashew, mild pear and oak. The finish is dry and its flavors linger nicely. The panel suggested pairing this Russian River Chard with chicken satay, sushi, or Brie cheese.
