El Molino Winery
El Molino Winery is located on the site of an old Ghost Winery founded in 1871. As a result, the original El Molino Winery was one of the earliest wineries founded in the Napa Valley. It operated until prohibition and was completely restored in 1981. The vineyards are family owned and operated and are located about 25 minutes to the south. Under El Molino’s control, they were originally planted in 1978.
El Molino Pinot Noir 2009
Brilliant dark ruby color. Black plum, blackberry, lifted cherry, and wet stone after rain aromatics that are pure and focused. Black tea and cherry pipe tobacco notes add complexity. A crisp fresh entry which expands into a rich and vibrant mid-palate. The lively tannins provide grip and depth and are framed by spice and berry compote notes that persist on the long finish.
"The light to medium ruby-hued 2006 Pinot Noir offers sweet cherry, loamy soil, spice, and herb characteristics, a savory, relatively evolved, medium to full-bodied palate, and more flavor than its light-ish color suggests. Broad, savory, and ready to drink, I would not be surprised to see this wine evolve for 7-8 years or longer. The balance is impeccable. " - Rated 90, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate.
