Cambria is located 17 miles from the Pacific Ocean, ten miles east of Santa Maria, in the heart of the Santa Maria Bench.
Part of an 1838 Mexican land grant, "Rancho Tepusquet" was home to cattle and row crops throughout the 1800s. Cambria is part of the original Tepusquet Vineyard planted in 1971 and 1972 on the Santa Maria Bench. It quickly earned a reputation for site-specific, character-laden Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Early clients for grapes included some of California's finest wineries. Recognizing the outstanding quality of the fruit, the Jackson family purchased Tepusquet in 1986 and renamed it Cambria, the Roman word for Wales, in honor of their family heritage.
