Private Reserve

 Since 1981, Beringer winemaster Ed Sbragia has created the Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon by combining wines from a handful of selected vineyards for a complex flavor profile that layers the fruits of each vineyard's unique soils and climate. In the 1996 vintage, he combined the wines from these vineyards, which had been separately vinted and aged, in the following proportions: 52 percent from Tre Colline Vineyard and 27 percent from Bancroft Ranch, both in the Howell Mountain American Viticultural Area (AVA), both with the rich fruit and structure that mark mountain fruit.
The lots were vinted from the four vineyards separately to enhance their individual characteristics. After fermenting the wines to dryness, pumping them over gently each day for optimal extraction of flavor, Ed hand-selected new French Nevers oak barrels for each lot.
Beringer Vineyards is known for producing a wide range of superior red, white and rosé wines as well as a few very high quality dessert wines. Beringer Rosé de Saignée, Knights Valley Alluvium Blanc, Napa Valley Rhine House Cabernet and Beringer Port of Cabernet represent an excellent sampling of these fine wines.
