When he founded BV in 1900, on an unimproved four-acre lot in the tiny town of Rutherford, Georges de Latour had a single vision: to bring world-class wine to America. As it turned out, he not only made better wine - he revolutionized the whole process.
Georges de Latour and his master winemaker pioneered the aging of wine in small oak barrels.
The winery endeavors to hold onto its rich cabernet tradition. While the winery produces chardonnay and sauvignon blanc among other varieties, cabernet is clearly king here. Beaulieu

BV BeauRouge Red Blend
Beaurouge grapes were selected from the entire length of the Napa Valley, from Calistoga in the north to St. Helena, Rutherford, and Carneros at the southern end of the valley. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Merlot, Syrah and other grapes, BeauRouge is a tribute to Fernande, embodying her famous exclamation to beautiful red wine. A lush and complex red wine, Beaurouge is a balanced, full-bodied wine that delivers a juicy mouthful of dark fruit and smooth tannins ready to be enjoyed upon release. A dynamically fruit-forward wine, Beaurouge boasts plush aromas of blackberry, plum and chocolate-cherry-truffle, with additional notes of black pepper, spice, and a touch of bay leaf. Also on display to the discerning are hints of strawberry from Carignane, dark raspberry from Grenache and wild cherry notes from a tad of Sangiovese.
