Arnold Palmer got connected to California wine while playing in the Transamerica Senior Classic at the Silverado Resort in Napa during the 1980s and '90s. Wine dinners and winery visits were par for the course during the Transamerica tournament. In 1996 Moone started the Luna Winery in Napa with a group of investors. Three years later, Palmer asked if he too could become an investor, and Moone said he would be willing to give him a share just to have him aboard. The Luna Winery is not far from Marin County, where Palmer's fiancée, Kit Gauthrop, lives.
And while the Arnold Palmer Wines combine high-quality, super premium wines with a legendary name and global icon, they are offered at an honest, approachable price, reflecting Palmer’s personality and regular-guy persona.
Arnold Palmer Cabernet Sauvignon
The nose holds scents of red fruits, with a dash of currant and pomegranate. Layers of minerals and milk chocolate are present on the palate, with a strong element of Rutherford Dust coming through. Arnold Palmer Cabernet Sauvignon has aromas of almonds and plump dark cherries. The flavors of the wine hint of mocha and spiced chai tea while filling the mouth with raspberry candy, dark chocolate, and espresso. All of the wine is thoroughly integrated, with the nose, body, and finish complementing each other. Interesting notes of white pepper and truffle follow the wine to the finish.
