Dr Henry John Lindeman, a British Navy Surgeon, and his wife Eliza Brammall built the stately Cawarra homestead, near Gresford in NSW. Cawarra is aboriginal for 'beside running water' and it was on the flats by the Paterson River that Dr Lindeman planted his first grape vines in 1843. One of his aims was to educate people to drink and appreciate wine, in an effort to curb the drunkenness caused by other spirits of the time, predominantly rum. He also believed wine had medicinal value and that wines required ageing before they could truly be enjoyed.
In the late 1950's, Lindemans began producing premium quality
wines with fruit from regions throughout Southeast Australia. This concept is
critical to the quality of our Bin Series wines. Variations in climate and soil
enable each of Australia's growing regions to provide distinct flavor
characteristics to the grapes. The hallmark of Lindemans Bin 65 Chardonnay is its outstanding consistency of quality and style, vintage after vintage. This reliability of quality combined with value for money has won Bin 65 Chardonnay international recognition and innumerable awards, including an unprecedented ten 'Best Buy' awards in US Magazine Wine Spectator.
