was first served in creator Gaspare Campari's bar, Caffè Campari, in the 1860s. It was originally known as the "Milano-Torino" because of its ingredients: Campari, the bitter liqueur, is from Milan (Milano) and Punt e Mes, the vermouth, is from Turin (Torino). It is popular belief that in the early 1900s, the Italians noticed a surge of Americans who enjoyed the cocktail. As a compliment to the Americans, the cocktail later became known as the "Americano".
The Americano is a gentle introduction to the unusual, bitter taste of Campari. A true classic cocktail.
1 ounce Campari
1 ounce sweet vermouth
Lemon twist or orange slice for garnish
Pour the Campari and vermouth into an old-fashioned glass filled with ice cubes.
Top with club soda.
Garnish with the lemon twist or orange slice.
Cocchi Americano is generally considered to be the nearest contemporary drink to the original recipe Kina
Lillet and is often used as a replacement. Throughout its history, the house of Cocchi has periodically produced alternative varieties of its Americano aperitif wine.
Made to the same recipe since 1891, this extraordinary aperitif wine has long been a staple of Asti. On a base of Moscato di Asti is infused a blend of herbs, fruit and spices, most notably cinchona, gentian and citrus, and laid down for a year before being released.
A blend of two aromatic varietals such as Brachetto and Malvasia famous for imparting notes of wild rose and summer berries.
These are blended with herbs, fruit and spices, most notably gentian, cinchona and citrus like for the Bianco classic version, but with an extra addition of Ginger and rose petals. In Piemonte it is served chilled with ice, a twist of orange peel and a splash of soda to bring out all its natural aroma and fragrances. Outside of Italy it is revered as one of last great blanc/bianco aperitif wines, essential to a wide range of classic mixed drinks.

The name says it all, Aperol is a perfect aperitif. Aperol originated in 1919 in Padova, it was a product of the Barbieri Brothers who launched the revolutionary idea of an aperitif with
low alcohol content. With a lively orange colour, it has a distinct flavor thanks to its unchanged secret recipe which is made up of an infusion of valuable prime materials such as bitter and sweet orange, china, gentian, rhubarb and many other herbs and roots mixed to perfection. In Italy the aperitif of the moment is the Aperol ‘Spritz’: prosecco, soda and a dash of Aperol. Aperol’s strong point is its light alcoholic content of only 11% and its ability to be enjoyed with friends at home or at the bar.
