Kestrel's Signature Edition Old Vine Merlot represents a small lot of very exceptional wine. Kestrel Vineyard is focused on wines possessing consummate elegance, structure, and the ability to age gracefully. These vines are among Washington State's oldest Merlot plantings and they produce a full-bodied, round Merlot.
Absolute quality is evident in every glass. "Dark, almost black cherry colored, this is an
authoritative wine with concentrated layers of red and black fruits. It's thick through the midpalate, then swings into an interesting, minty, lifted, citrusy finish. Spicy and tart, with real meat on its bones."

Kestrel Vineyard
Kestrel Vintners crafts its wines to suit wine lovers with palates for dark, rich reds and fruit driven, food-friendly white wines. These elegant, distinctive wines include the Signature Edition Series Old Vine Merlot. This wine was produced solely from the old vine Merlot block S9 at Kestrel View Estate Vineyard. These vines were planted in 1972, making them some of the oldest vines in the state. Fortunately, not only are these vines old, they were also planted in one of the best growing regions in the Yakima Valley. The Kestrel View Estate Vineyard is located high up on the Roza, north of Prosser.
