Benanti Rosso di Verzella
Descendants from the Benanti family in Bologna took the name Benanti when, in 1734, Vittorio Amedeo II d'Aosta, king of Sardinia, sent a part of the family to flourish in Sicily, making them earls. Toward the end of the 19th century, Giuseppe Benanti, grandfather to the present Giuseppe, started the production of Etna wines. In 1988, Giuseppe Benanti started the search for particular indigenous clones in order to reproduce the old fragrances and flavors with the help of the most modern winemaking techniques.
