This garnet red, purple tinged wine has blueberry and toasty vanilla aromas followed by cherry, chocolate and coffee flavors.
You'll finf many commonalities between Clay Station and the southern
Mediterranean. Delicato decided to take it one step further and focus on grape varieties that had rarely been tried before in Lodi – Viognier and Syrah,

Clay Station
The brand takes its name from a 1,600-acre ranch purchased by Delicato in the Lodi appellation in 1994. The first vines were planted on the new property in 1995. The Indelicato family has been making wine for more than 75 years, and today owns more than 10,000 acres of vineyards along the Central Coast and near Lodi, California. Delicato has a substantial vineyard business, farming grapes for other wineries, and has an outsourcing business where it does custom winemaking as well as its own branded-case-goods business. Clay Station vineyard was once a stagecoach stop along the Galt-Ione line in the mid-1800's and then became part of the large Borden Ranch, famous for its Herefords and Thoroughbred Trotters. Located 200-300 feet above the valley floor, the rich, reddish clay soils are studded with large stone cobbles. Morning fog and afternoon breezes from the nearby Sacramento Delta and the Carquinez Strait moderate the afternoon heat and create cool nighttime conditions and an extended growing season.
