Beringer Appellation Cabernet Sauvignon
1999 from California shows hints of maturity with a complex array of
cedar, currant, dried cherry and anise flavors that turn supple then
firm on the finish. An opulence and richness that perfectly illustrates why Cabernet has been called the king of wines “A touch of Cabernet Franc (2%) and a small amount of Merlot from Bancroft Ranch (4%) opens on the nose with succulent ripe black cherry, cassis, cedar and a hint of mint. Dark, round fruit flavors fill the mouth and transition into a structured and long finish with sweet plum and black cherry flavors complemented by chocolate and exotic spice notes.” ~ Laurie Hook, Winemaker
Wine arrives in a wood crate engraved with a vineyard motif. Gift measures
16" x 7" x 7" and weighs 6 lbs.
Price: $132.95

Beringer
Completed in 1884 by Architect Albert Schroepfer, Frederick Beringer's residence has beautiful exterior stonework, stained-glass windows and interior wood paneling - all exhibiting exceptional artistry and craftsmanship. The Beringer brothers located their winery building against the hillside so they could use gravity flow methods to make their wine, as was the custom in their native Rhine Valley. Rare among Napa Valley wineries, the aging caves of Beringer were dug into the hillside of Spring Mountain from the late 1870's to the early 1880's. The tedious and strenuous task of hand-chiseling the 1,200 linear feet of tunnels was completed by Chinese immigrant workers.

Cabernet
Sauvignon
Makes the great red Bordeaux
wines and among the finest reds in California, Chile and Australia.
The best growing sites for producing quality wines from Cabernet Sauvignon are in moderately warm, semi-arid regions providing a long growing season, on well-drained, not-too-fertile soils. Vineyards in Sonoma County's Alexander Valley, much of the Napa Valley, and around the Paso Robles area of the Central Coast have consistently produced the highest-rated California examples.
