California Wine and Wineries.
The vast majority of fine wines produced in America come
from California. The various wine regions of California ideal for growing
an array of grapes, as local conditions can resemble those found in
France's Bordeaux, Burgundy and Rhone regions, various parts of Italy. In 1965, Napa Valley icon Robert Mondavi broke away from his family's Charles Krug estate to found his own in Oakville California. It was the first new large-scale winery to be established in the valley since before prohibition.
Stag's Leap Wine Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Artemis, California

A perennial favorite on restaurant wine lists.
Wild Horse Chardonnay Unbridled, California
Wild Horse Winery and Vineyards has been exploring California’s Central Coast, experimenting with new growing and winemaking methods since its inception in 1981. This exquisite Chardonnay demonstrates extremely bright citrus and apple aromas mixed with subtle nutty caramel from the French Oak followed by a graceful, well balanced finish.
Big House Red Central Coast, California
Big House Red is all about fragrance, spice and soft tannins. It has a fragrance of mint and garrigue, with insinuations of blackberry and the ubiquitous framboise. Not a wine that you would want to serve to the Queen, it is nevertheless a wine that is the perfect complement to barbecue, pasta, pizza and all of the major non-vegan groups.
Kenwood Chardonnay Sonoma, California
Combing grapes from the cool climate regions of southern Sonoma Valley and the Russian River Valley, Kenwood’s 2007 Sonoma County Chardonnay nicely balances the classic fruit flavors of this varietal with subtle notes of French oak aging.
Lush and viscous mouth feel with a lingering, slightly crisp finish.
Estancia Pinot Noir Reserve, California
At Estancia, they rely on the benefits of boutique style winemaking techniques. A classically styled Pinot Noir, adopting the Burgundian philosophy of handling the fruit as delicately as possible. The result is a wine which is lusciously fruity with ripe cherries layered with sweet oak, dried flowers, leather, and spice. Soft and silky with a persistent finish.
Each winery's entry consists of overall quality
rating, one to five stars, founding date, current owner, winemaker,
acreage, case production, varietals estate-grown and purchased, as
well as notes on selected wines.
