Louis Max Santernay La Comme 1998, Burgundy, France
In the 1850s, Yevgeny Louis Max left his native Russia on foot and headed
for Beaune, inspired by stories he’d heard from his father, a wine
merchant who had traveled through Burgundy as a conscript in the army of
Czar Alexander I. In 1859, Yevgeny founded Maison Louis Max in Nuits-St-Georges.
Four generations of the family have subsequently run the House; today,
Laurent Max, the great-grandson of Louis, is at the helm.

Geyser Peak Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2001, California
Big, bold and rich are the operative words to describe this
wine. From its inky, opaque, red hue to the vibrant, ripe fruit aromas,
the wine promises intensity and style. Blackberry and black cherry aromas
mingle with notes of clove, vanilla, cocoa and sweet spice; these lead in
to a focused, juicy palate of structure and depth. The intense fruit
carries through to the finish, when fine-grained tannins come to the fore
and linger with fruit and spice. Note: Due to limited handling, this wine
may develop a small amount of sediment over time.

This is the second wine of legendary Château Rieussec. Chateau de Cosse is
selected from barrels that were not selected for the "Grand Vin", and has
characteristics very similar to the "Grand Vin", but with shorter ageing
in barrels. It may be enjoyed at a younger age than its "Grand Vin"
counterpart. It possesses the typical characteristics of a fine Sauternes.
